Through our academic partners, we also host a satellite “distance learning” program for students who cannot attend in-person. Our Icon Professional UAS Certificate Programs* have been developed by leading professionals in the industry who are dedicated to creating a foundation of highly motivated and highly skilled pilots, technicians, designers and mechanics. These courses were designed in accordance with FAA section 333 requirements so that a graduate can comply with the minimum requirements for commercial operation of a UAS.

*All Section 333 FAA Exemptions approved to date have had a minimum requirement of a Sport Pilot Certificate and the assumed responsibility for maintaining and inspecting the UAS to ensure that it is in a condition for safe operation. Aerodrome provides courses to qualify for these requirements.
To qualify for the Light Sport Aircraft Pilot Certificate, the “Sport Pilot AIrplane Ground School” and “Sport Pilot Airplane Flight Training” can be used, while the “UAS Flight Training Lab – sUAS” and “UAS Maintenance” can be used to ensure one properly ensues maintaining and inspecting the UAS to ensure that it is in a condition for safe operation.

Introduction to Unmanned Aircraft Systems

This 40-hr course is designed to provide formal instruction in the theory, tactics and technology of unmanned aircraft systems. It builds a concrete foundation for UAS design and application in civilian fields, while also looking at future capabilities.

Practical Applications of Unmanned Aircraft Systems

This 40-hr course is designed for researchers and experienced pilots. It provides in-depth exposure to the theory, tactics and technology of unmanned aircraft systems, as well as practical experience through virtual simulations of commercial missions.

Sport Pilot-Airplane Ground School

This 25-hour course is designed to prepare the student for FAA Certification as a Sport Pilot. The student will learn the core flight fundamentals during the ground school. The Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) will present the FAA rules and regulations, how to understand the impact of weather on planning your flight, aircraft weight and balance, aeronautical charts and pre-flight planning ending ground school with an overall review. The conclusion of this training course consists of a review that will prepare the student for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airman Knowledge Test.

Sport Pilot-Airplane Flight Lab

This course requires demonstrated flight proficiency in a Light Sport Aircraft to prepare the student for FAA Certification. The student has learned the core flight fundamentals in ground school and will put that knowledge to work during flight training.

UAS Flight Training Lab – sUAS

This 40-hr course requires demonstrated flight proficiency to operate Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The Certified Flight Instructor will present the current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations that apply to UAS operating within National Airspace, safety requirements and topics related to the Original Equipment Manufacturer requirements for a specific UAS.

Part 107 Operator and Remote Pilot

The Aerodrome offers a Remote Pilot Certificate with a Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Rating based on the criteria established by new regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposed 14 CFR part 107

Introduction to Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Light Sport Aircraft Repairman-Airplane (Coming Soon)

This 120-hr foundation course presents all materials needed to qualify for the FAA Repairman Certificate with a Light-Sport Aircraft/Airplane Rating. Coursework covers regulations associated with the repair and operation of light-sport aircraft, the operation and maintenance of two-cycle and four-cycle engines, aircraft structure and fabric coverings. Students also receive instruction in instrumentation and electrical systems, landing gear, and other systems commonly found on this category of aircraft.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Maintenance Lab

This 40-hr foundation course is designed to provide formal instruction in the theory, operation and maintenance of UAS. The course provides theory, techniques and technology along with other topics specific to the UAS Manufacturer's Required Training.
